Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of AmsterdamTourism.org. They are short, and the substance of them is this: we research the guides carefully, but Amsterdam changes, and the decisions you make on your trip are yours.

What this site is

AmsterdamTourism.org publishes editorial travel guides about Amsterdam and the Netherlands. It is a publication, not a travel agency, tour operator or booking platform. We do not sell tickets, take reservations, handle payments, or act as an agent for any hotel, museum, restaurant or transport company mentioned here. Any booking you make is a contract between you and that business.

Accuracy, and its limits

We check fares, opening hours, prices and rules against primary sources before publishing and review them on a schedule. Amsterdam nonetheless moves faster than any guide: GVB revises fares, museums change their booking windows, the municipality adjusts the rules in De Wallen, the tourist tax rate is set annually, restaurants close, and Keukenhof’s dates shift every year. Treat what you read here as well-researched guidance rather than a guarantee, and confirm anything you are relying on — a price, a departure time, a closing day — with the operator or venue before you commit money to it.

We provide the site on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude liability for loss arising from decisions made on the basis of our content: a missed train, a sold-out museum, a closed restaurant, a fine, or a trip that did not go as planned. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

This is not professional advice

Guides that touch on Dutch law — the rules on cannabis and coffeeshops, alcohol in public, photography in De Wallen, cycling regulations, the tourist tax — are written to help visitors understand and comply with local rules. They are journalism, not legal advice, and they describe our understanding at the time of writing. Similarly, anything touching on health, insurance, visas or money is general information, not professional advice. If the stakes are real, consult someone qualified in the relevant jurisdiction.

Links to other sites

We link to transport operators, museums, restaurants, and Dutch government and municipal sources so you can verify what we have written. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end of it.

Our content

The text, structure, original photography and layout of this site belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to link to any page here, and to quote a short extract with clear attribution and a link back. You may not republish whole guides, mirror the site, or use our material to train or generate competing content without written permission. Some images are used under licence from their photographers or under Creative Commons terms, and those licences travel with the image, not with this site.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape at damaging volume, or gain unauthorised access to this site or the server it runs on. Do not use it for anything unlawful. We may block access where we have to.

Advertising

This site carries advertising, which is what pays for the research. Advertisements are supplied by third-party networks and are not selected or endorsed by our editorial team; the presence of an ad is not a recommendation. Our guides are written independently of any advertiser, and we do not accept paid placements within editorial content.

Changes

We may revise these terms as the site develops. The version on this page is the one that applies. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and the Dutch courts will have jurisdiction, without affecting any consumer rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.
